01 / The brief

A film company’s website competes with the films on it.

Blackfish Films produces film work, and their site has an obvious problem: anything written on it is less persuasive than thirty seconds of what they have made.

The build had to accept that and organise around it: get the visitor to the work quickly, then support it with the behind-the-scenes material that turns a viewer into an enquiry.

02 / Our approach

Put the films first and design the page to disappear behind them.

Media galleries and the film portfolio were made the site’s structure, with a cinematic treatment that gives the work the full width of the screen rather than boxing it into a template.

Behind-the-scenes content and testimonials sit after the work, for the visitor who is already interested, which is the only visitor who reads them anyway.

03 / The outcome

A site that gets out of the way of the films.
