01 / The brief

A career is not a portfolio, and it does not fit a portfolio layout.

Dr. Gordon K. McIvor has spent over forty years in public and government affairs, real property and governance, including senior roles at Canada Lands Company, work with the World Bank in India and Colombia, and the presidency of the Empire Club of Canada.

The material spans decades: editorials, published articles, a thesis, hundreds of photographs and a large volunteer record. A conventional CV page would have flattened all of it.

02 / Our approach

An archive with a front door.

The site opens on the through-line of the career rather than a chronology, with a personal welcome message in his own words and voice giving the reader a reason to go further.

Articles, gallery and thesis are separate archives rather than sections of one page, so each can grow without the homepage becoming unmanageable.

Phase 01

Archive structure

Decades of material sorted into archives that can each grow.

Phase 02

Design

Editorial treatment built around the photography.

Phase 03

Build

Article archive, gallery, audio and CMS.

Phase 04

SEO and launch

On-page SEO and responsive pass.

03 / The outcome

A public record that is actually navigable.

Separate archives for articles, gallery and thesis, a personal welcome in audio, and a CMS that lets the record keep growing.
